I am a Native San Diegan, so when it came time to paint a painting of my beautiful city, I just knew I had to paint the bridge over Coronado Bay. I have always been fascinated by bridges...I think it is the idea of two land masses being connected by a structure that man has built. To think that someone comes up with an idea in their head, applies it to paper (or now computer), creates a model, and then actually builds it...to withstand earthquakes, cars, all sorts of pressures. That is incredible. Imagine something that you created being used by thousands of people a day.
When I was a kid, I called it the "blue bridge" and I remember crossing it to play soccer tournaments. The water is a beautiful warm blue with the bridge above cutting through a typical San Diegan sunset...warm and golden. |
